MUS Boot Camp; Enlist Today
22 July; James Garland
At Melbourne University Sport, we see so many people with plenty of fitness ‘inspiration’, but little fitness ‘motivation’. The inspiration tends to drive people to take the first step, such as buying a gym membership and maybe even a new pair of runners. However, the lack of motivation often means people never form lasting exercise habits. read more...

However, third place finisher, and gracious host, Melbourne University won the quality contest by earning medals in every one of the ten sports it entered. Melbourne dominated the medal count with four golds, three silvers and three bronzes, outworking Victoria University’s eight total medals. Why Games comes first for footy star
21 July; Geoff McClure
IMAGINE a prize recruit such as Carlton's Chris Judd announcing to his team in the countdown to the finals that he'd be missing a few games so as to accompany his girlfriend on her overseas assignment. Well, that's exactly what will happen to amateur team Uni Blues (sic Uni Blacks) next month when one of its bigger signings, former Brisbane Lions and Western Bulldogs player Marty Pask puts his footy on hold for a few weeks to head to Beijing to provide his fiance, swimmer Leisel Jones, with some moral support in her bid for gold at the 2008 Olympic Games. read more...

A woman's place in football is in the thick of it
2 July 2008; John Harms SUNDAY afternoon. Grey and blowing. I head off to the A.H. Capp Reserve by Merri Creek, Preston, to watch some footy.
The game has just started. The shrill voices of women footballers, and the dozens of supporters who sit rugged up and huddled together, reverberate around the ground, off the houses and the electricity towers on the creekside: "You've got to want it, Uni". read more...
