Futsal Club

Futsal is a format of five-a-side football that is played extensively throughout the world.  The name 'Futsal' was chosen by FIFA when it took over as the governing body of the sport in 1989. The term Futsal is derived from the Spanish or Portuguese word for "football", FUTbol or FUTebol, and the French or Spanish word for "indoor", SALon or SALa.

The game is played on a court, with touchline boundaries, ranging in size from that of a standard basketball court to the full FIFA International size of 42 M x 25 M. The official ball is a special low bounce ball that is heavier and smaller than an official size 5 football. The ball forces a player to use their skill rather than the ball’s bounce to propel it. As a small sided game, players are constantly placed in situations where they must receive or play whilst under pressure or in confined spaces.

As a game it places considerable demand on technique, movement, tactical awareness and fitness.
