The Melbourne University Tennis Club has regularly entered teams into the Bayside Tennis Association's Competiton for the past 4 years. This season, the Women's Singles / Doubles Tennis team, consisting of Lisa Ng (captain), Alethea Larkins, Emily Hamilton and Joyce Young, won the Section 1 Premiership in straight sets.

The team was also awarded the Jack Butterworth Perpetual Cup, surpassing the performance of the 88 other teams in the Association. The Jack Butterworth Perpetual Cup has been presented bi-annually since 1954 to the Bayside Regional Tennis Association (formerly Southern Tennis Association) team with the highest percentage of games for and against at the end of the home and away matches. The team had a games winning percentage of 226.2%
