![]() MUGARS win with a stroll in the Park The Melbourne University Women’s Football Club (03/06) continued their strong form yesterday (03/06/07) with wins in Victorian Women’s Football League Premier Division Seniors and Resreves. In a low scoring encounter, the MUGAR Seniors defeated Parkdale, 7.6 - 48 to 5.5 - 35. Trailing by two points at the end of the first quarter, University quickly claimed the lead in the second quarter after Lizzie Williams and Michelle Dench booted two goals each. By half time, University was 13 points ahead and they maintained this margin through until the final siren. The MUGARS remain second on the Premier Division ladder. The Reserves enjoyed a comfortable victory over their Parkdale rivals, 14.11 - 95 to 3.7 - 25. The 70 point victory was attributed to the accurate kicking of the MUGAR players - nine of whom scored goals. Amber Robinson and Erini Gianooulous kicked three goals each, whilst Freyja Tobin booted two. University’s best players were Kate Francis, Bron Richardson, Madeline Rhode, Jen Zahara and Freyja Tobin. The MUGARS are scheduled to play the Deakin Devils next week (10/06/07) on the University Oval.
