This week, University claimed two from two - with both Big V basketball teams recording wins in their respective divisions.

The University girls shrugged off their Sunbury opponents, 72 – 57. University, typically not strong in defense, relied on their solid offensive skills. It was a defining game for both teams; the Jets have struggled for consistent results, while University has not won a game since Round 2. Claire Pownell and Renee Tuck dominated on-court play and were crucial contributors to the well-needed win. The girls are 9th on the league ladder.

The University boys followed the girls lead, defeating Shepparton 91 – 82. University, desperate to crack into the top 4, was well aware of the importance of the game. With finals basketball in their sights, this was a crucial win for the men’s team. When these two teams last met in Round 4, University convincingly beat the Gators by 24 points. Following Round 8 games, the boys are ranked 5th.
