Beenie wins Triathlon double

Second Year Engineering student Samantha Beenie won the Victorian Sprint Championship at Sandringham yesterday, just a week after winning the ITU Oceania U/23 Championship in Penrith, NSW.

A 2006 Friends of the Sports Association scholarship holder, Beenie won the Victorian Championship by a second from Jacinta Collier in very windy conditions along the Sandringham foreshore. It was a more comfortable win for Sam in the Oceania Championships the previous week were she beat the second place-getter by 34 seconds. Beenie will compete in next weekend’s second national series race in Hobart.
