BOSU Balance Trainer FREE Information Session
20/04/07
By Danielle White

You have probably seen the BOSU (acronym for Both Sides Up) Balance Trainer in the Strength & Fitness Gym near the other Fitballs, but perhaps been unsure what to do with it to optimise your time. This FREE information session is your chance to learn some new and stimulating training techniques.

BOSU Balance TrainerThe BOSU is like an exercise ball that's been cut in half with a platform on the bottom. You can use it ball-side-up side up to challenge lower body balance and stability or use the platform to target upper body strength.

The BOSU has many uses including:
Cardio - Use it like a step with hops, jumps, step ups, leaps, lunges, etc.
Strength training - For dynamic squats, lunges, pushups or balance on it while lifting weights.
Flexibility - Stand or kneel on the dome while doing traditional stretches to add more challenge.
Sports Conditioning - Perform sports drills like jumping or plyometric moves to increase performance and agility.
Core training - Use it for abdominal and lower back exercises to target the core muscles.

Two sessions will be run by our fully qualified and experienced Fitness Centre Instructor:
Sarah Harrison. Sarah will demonstrate the following:

  • The benefits of stability for functional fitness
  • Exercise progressions from beginner to advanced
  • Add challenge and variety to your workout
  • Learn Bosu exercises specific to various sports
