![]() Rangers 3-1 victors in season opener In Saturday’s long-awaited season opener, University Rangers scored a 3-1 home victory over North Sunshine Eagles in Football Federation Victoria’s North-West Provisional League 1. Rangers claimed the early ascendancy at Princess Park through goals to Andrew Kotsos and Brant Mitchell, entering the halftime break 2-1 in front. In a tightly contested second half, Rangers’ Patrick Grigg found the back of the Eagles net, helping the home side run out two goal winners. After their opening round, University sit third, by goal difference, on the divisional table. In the curtain raiser to the Senior’s fixture, Rangers’ Reserves demolished their North Sunshine opponents 6-0. For University’s women’s teams playing in Premier League, it was a less successful weekend, both conceding defeat to Eltham North sides. The University Blues, playing in North-West Provisional League 2 had mixed results with the Senior going down 1 – 3 to Brimbank City and the Reserves prevailing 1 – 0. |
