The Mugars, University’s Women’s Football Club, have gone three from three, after a 41-point away victory against St Kilda, on Saturday. The club’s win comes on the back of seven players being selected in representative sides for the annual Vic Metro versus Vic Country clash, this Saturday, at the MCG. Trailing by eight points at the first break, the Mugars tightened the screws on their bayside opponents, restricting the Sharks to only two behinds, whilst kicking three goals of their own, in the second quarter. University entered the half-time, narrowly leading by eight points. Emerging after the long break, both teams shared honours in an even and hotly contested premiership quarter. Proceeding couldn’t have been tighter, with both teams kicking four goals, one behind apiece. Belinda Bray displayed why she was selected in the Vic Metro team, claiming best-on-ground honours for the winners. Belinda Ball, Michelle Dench along with Bray, shared goal-kicking honours, each kicking three majors for the Mugars. This Saturday allegiances will change, as Jane Clifton, Jess Egan, Chyloe Kurdas, Leisha Jungalwalla, Kristin Douglas and Natalie Wood, all representing Vic Country, will face-off against normal teammate Bray, on the hallowed turf of the MCG. The Vic Metro - Vic Country game will be played as the curtain-raiser to the Carlton and Collingwood blockbuster.
