University’s Women’s Soccer Club recorded an emphatic 6-2 victory over WVSA on Saturday night, the club’s first ever, following their promotion to Football Federation Victoria’s Premier League this year.

Playing host to WVSA, at Darebin’s International Sports Centre, Uni carved up the visitors defence, slotting five unanswered first half goals. Proceedings tightened in the second half, as WVSA found the back of the net twice, to Uni’s once, narrowing the final margin to four goals.

For Uni, Keryn Walters was dominant up front scoring a hat-trick, with Eva Fenwick finding the net twice. Catherine Borg was the other goal scorer for the victors.

Following the win, University has moved into seventh place on the Premier League table after three rounds, only two points outside the top five. A win in the forthcoming away fixture against fifth placed Eltham North, could see University continue their march up the ladder and into the top five.
