Brown named World League Goalie of the tournament

Victoria BrownHigh Performance Scholarship recipient Victoria Brown was named as goalkeeper of the tournament at the recent Water Polo World League Super Finals. The Australian women’s team, the Stingers, claimed the silver medal going down to the USA in the grand final 8 – 4 in Montreal, Canada (8 July).

In other Water Polo news, the Melbourne University Water Polo Club had mixed fortunes in their recent Water Polo Victoria State League grand finals. The Men’s Blues SL 3 team led at half-time against Melbourne Collegians, but was eventually over-run 4 – 5. Being Runners-up in this grade is the Club’s highest ever finish. The SL 5 team faired better, defeating Melbourne Surge Black 4 – 3 to be declared Victorian Champions. In other results, the Blacks SL 3 team finished 5th, as did the women’s team in SL 3.
