Uni Rowers win bronze at 2007 Youth Olympics

University students and Melbourne University Boat Club rowers Jessie Smith (3rd Year Arts) and Courtney Adamson (2nd Year Law) won bronze medals at the 2007 Youth Olympics in Penrith, NSW (21 January). Representing Victoria, Smith and fellow MUBC rower Alison Crowe won bronze medals in the Women’s Coxless Four. Smith was also a member of the bronze medal-winning Women’s Eight alongside Adamson, Melbourne University student Sarah Hawe (3rd Year Science) and Crowe.

While not claiming any medals, the Victorian men’s boats comprised Simon Booth, James Adams and James Osborne (Melbourne University and MUBC), Alex Scharp (Melbourne University) and Angus Tyers (MUBC). MUBC’s Head Coach Ian Wright and Senior Coach Tim Dolphin were the Victorian Men’s and Women’s coaches respectively.
